Guiding Principles

Part 1: Introduction
1. Members of AEAAB are governed by its Constitution and this Code of Conduct, which aims to promote a high professional standard of ethical business practice among AEAAB’s members.
2. This Code of Conduct represents the minimum standards which AEAAB members are required to follow.

Part 2: General Professional Principles and Ethics

3. Members shall faithfully carry out the duties which they undertake, and shall have proper regard for the interests of those who seek their services.
4. Members shall endeavour to contribute through their work to the promotion and advancement of the industry.
5. Members shall avoid actions and situations inconsistent with their legal or contractual obligations or likely to raise doubts about their integrity.
6. Members shall not maliciously endeavour to discredit other members of AEAAB.
7. Members shall abide by this Code of Conduct and other Codes which may be promulgated from time to time by AEAAB’s Executive Committee.

Part 3: Relationship with Students and Parents

8. Members shall provide accurate, complete and honest information, as provided by education providers, to student and parent enquirers.
9. Members shall make every effort to ensure that accurate information is provided to enable students and parents to exercise an informed judgment in making their choice of education provider.
10. Members shall recommend suitable study programmes appropriate to the student’s academic standard and English proficiency.
11. Members shall not knowingly misrepresent the nature and resources of education providers to students or their parents.
12. Members shall provide clear and explicit information at an early stage about their charges for services, if any.
13. Members shall provide pre-departure support to ensure accommodation, guardians, visas, air tickets and airport pickup (as necessary) are arranged for students.
14. Members shall provide after sales service by maintaining contact with education providers, students and parents.
15. Information provided by students and parents shall be treated as confidential and all members must comply with the ESOS act to protect Privacy-related issues.
16. Members shall not retain original documents obtained from students. Should this exceptionally be necessary, members shall always provide a receipt for original documents temporarily retained.
17. Members shall not guarantee places on behalf of education providers.

Part 4: Relationship with Education Providers

18. Members shall provide an honest assessment of students to education providers regarding academic standards, qualifications and behaviour.
19. Members shall adhere to their contracts or agreements with education providers.
20. Members shall instruct students or their parents to remit, all fees by bank draft or telegraphic transfer directly to education providers.
21. Members shall not knowingly be a party to any attempt by students or their parents to deceive any visa-issuing authority.

Part 5: Advertising and Promotions

22. All advertising or other publicity initiated by a member on behalf of an education provider shall be in a form and manner agreed to by the education provider.
23. Members shall not intentionally mislead members of the public in their advertisements.
24. All advertising and promotions by members shall comply with their contracts and agreements with education providers.

  • Maintain high standards of professional conduct of business upholding this code all times
  • Demonstrate appropriate attributes and qualities to competently service the needs of students/parents
  • Establish appropriate resources and procedures required to provide professional services to students
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of information about students and communications with students
  • Refrain from unjustified criticism of other educational advisors and institutions and seek to resolve any conflict of advice directly with the party concerned in a professional manner
  • Maintain accountability to both students and institutions
  • Actively seek to promote professional development and keep them informed of current developments in their fields.
  • Provide students and institutions wit information they need and avoid withholding relevant information
  • Advertise in ethical manner by not engaging in false, misleading or damaging messages
  • Work with institutions and professional bodies as a provider of high quality educational advisor
  • Always act in the best interests of the student, while respecting institutional policies, statutory and legal.

The members shall display the membership certificate in open area of the office and make every effort to do business in the manner of fairness and sincerity.

The members shall identify themselves as a member of AEAAB on every promotional material.

The members shall subscribe to total truth in advertising, and shall not create confusion in the public mind through unclear statement and mislead potential clients by exaggerated advertisement.

The members shall do their best in providing educational counsel, school placement and other necessary service for clients to ensure their academic success in foreign country.

The members shall participate in the meeting of the Association and activities and shall abide by the decision of the Association as a member not only to pay the membership fee but also to perform the members’ obligation.

The members shall pledge that they will do business faithfully in accordance with the Code of Ethics, and accept any disciplinary action made by the General Meeting of the Association or the Board Meeting, in the event that the member violates rules stipulated in the Code of Ethics.
